Recently two new people joined our group and it’s about time to introduce them:
Pravin Kumar received his PhD from Leiden Institute of Physics, Universiteit Leiden, Netherlands. In his PhD he used electron paramagnetic resonance (EPR) to investigate the conformations of peripheral membrane proteins on a membrane, notably α-synuclein involved in Parkinson’s disease as well as designed membrane fusion proteins. In Umeå, Pravin will work on the in vitro reconstitution of RNA virus replication. He is supported by a fellowship from the Kempe foundation.
Björn Ahlman is a student in the MSc in Engineering Physics programme at Umeå University. He will take a project course in our group, focussing on image processing for cryo-electron tomography.
Welcome, Pravin and Björn!
