Some days ago, a big crowd gathered in our department lunch room. The image below probably explains why: we were celebrating that our postdoc Selma Dahmane accepted a tenure-track Assistant Professor position at the Friedrich Miescher Institute in Basel, Switzerland. Selma was the first postdoc to join our lab, and the fact that she turned her project into such a success even though our new lab had no hands-on experience in enteroviruses – nor in FIB milling – speaks volumes about her determination and independence. Well recruited, FMI! Selma, you will be dearly missed and you’re always welcome back to visit us.
As a final note, Selma has some really interesting stories that are still unpublished. Stay tuned…
