Last week, a large subset of the lab went to Hamburg for the symposium “Chartering the landscape of infection: from entry to exit”. The symposium took place on DESY campus, arranged by the Centre for Structural Systems Biology (CSSB). CSSB is a place we feel high affinity for since the entire centre is focussed on structural and molecular infection biology. We were super happy that everyone from the lab got an opportunity to give an oral presentation: Karim on chikungunya virus, Marie on her PhD work (BK polyoma virus) and Himanshu on microsporidia. Lars presented the lab’s recent paper on poliovirus replication.
The symposium also included a nice harbour cruise dinner. As a surprise sight, we passed by the Ever Given container ship that blocked the Suez canal in 2021. Below is a picture of Lars, Marie and Himanshu during the cruise:
